This program is anchored on my accumulated learnings, aggregated experience through the years and practical insights from my own health journey.
My journey in health began long before I consciously decided to became a health coach.
I began my life in India and spent my later teen years overweight with no access to information on weight management. The only piece of advice I received for losing weight was “eat and exercise”, which I did. By the time I reached college I was terribly overweight and grossly underconfident (my clothes did not fit and I was horribly uncomfortable in my skin). In later years I realized this had been due to emotional eating and hormonal imbalances.
My years at college were a constant struggle to eat as less as possible. The weight took 4 years to come off using the same advice given to me earlier, but with a twist - it now said “eat less and exercise”.
My early years in corporate India comprised long working hours with very little exercise. My husband and I then moved to Australia, and during both my pregnancies at age 30-35, my mantra evolved into “eat less and exercise lots”. On the exercise front I tried yoga, long cardio workouts, Insanity by Shawn T, BBG workouts. A few years later we relocated to Singapore, and at age 45, I strained my back that resulted in a surgery, which put an end to the intense workouts and long runs. This forced me to relook at what I knew and what I believed.
This life change took me on a path of self-discovery and I spent the next many years reading, researching and experimenting on myself with different schools of thought such as; keto, paleo, SOS free, nutritive density, calorie deficit, intermittent fasting, ayurvedic doshas and water fasting. By this time our move to the US was finalized and shortly thereafter I entered menopause. My hormonal imbalances surfaced with a vengeance and my weight was on the rise again. This forced me to take ownership of my health issues again.
By this time I had realised that my ability to maintain a balance was key to a sustainable weight loss and weight management. This to me meant, consciously making intentional lifestyle choices and trade-offs with myself.
This encouraged me to study and get accredited as a Holistic Health Coach. Thus came about my venture - The Balanced Bandwagon.
The BB Program brings together my personal experience, insights gained and professional expertise under Four Wheels signifying the unique dimensions of health, namely- Nourishment, Movement, Mindfulness and Relaxation, around which I coach and consult.
